Your deepest roots are in nature. No matter who you are,
where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked
with the rest of creation.

 There couldn’t be a phrase with more truth behind it. Having
had the privilege of leaving behind the noisy, polluted and over populated city
life and making a life where my heart lies, I can truly share that every human
being has a deep-seated connection with nature causing us to experience
solitude like no other when we embrace it.

&nbsp;

 It’s been on my mind for a while now to start a blog on this
transition from urban to rural life. One of my mentors and ex-bosses would be
proud of me. Having said that, there couldn’t have been a
better day for me to kick-start this journey.

&nbsp;

I now live in a small village called Bhamdeli. This is in
the vicinity of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, about 3 hours from the city of
Nagpur. Yesterday was a gorgeous overcast day with cool, fresh winds and light
showers. A complete contrast to the day before though, mind you, where the sun
was scorching and temperatures were soaring close to 50 degrees centigrade. But
that’s the brilliance of nature, isn’t it?

&nbsp;

It’s in such moments when I feel truly blessed to still be
able to enjoy nature. While sitting on the steps of my porch writing this blog
I couldn’t help but wonder where and how mankind went so wrong. After all, we
just like our forests, rivers, mountains, oceans, etc. etc. were God’s creation
too. How it is then that our natural environment is so perfect and completely
in balance while the human race has lost all sense of balance all together?
 We’re running from pillar to post, towards achieving some so-called goals,
without a thought for what we are harming on the way. We have already destroyed
so much and continue to destroy even more at such an alarming rate, that it
scares me to imagine what the world would be even 10 years from now.

&nbsp;

 As I lamented on, I noticed I had company, bringing my
thoughts back to the beauty of my surroundings. A little squirrel was rather
busy running around. I wonder what he had lost&nbsp;and our resident tailor
bird was striving really really hard to be accepted into the choir! Keeping her
company were robins, jungle babblers, lapwings, babblers and parakeets. It was
a beautiful natural orchestra all around me.

&nbsp;

 Compare this world to the world I came from and frankly
there is no comparison. I too like most of us lived many years oblivious to the
extent of destruction we were causing in the world. But being blessed with
conscientious parents who are nature lovers themselves, my sisters and I were
lucky enough to be exposed to this side of the world as well. This exposure
pushed me to know more and do more about helping our planet. But we’ll save
that for another time! The point of this blog was just to open up your mind to
knowing and loving our natural world.

&nbsp;

 And for the rest, well as they say, nature will take its
course...
