TakenoLAB is a visionary non profit organization with a global mission to bridge the digital divide for
underserved communities worldwide. Born in 2015 at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi through
the vision of Burundian refugee Remy Gakwaya, TakenoLAB has transcended its origins to become a
beacon of digital empowerment across continents.
With roots in Malawi and branches now extending to the USA, TakenoLAB embodies the potential for
global change through localized action. Our presence in both developing and developed nations
uniquely positions us to understand and address the universal challenges of digital exclusion,
regardless of geographical or economic boundaries.
Since our founding, weve trained over 5,000 students in crucial digital skills, helped more than 300
refugees secure online employment, and inspired 500+ youth to pursue further education in
