Hi, my name is Sophie Piper and I am a Japanese to English freelance translator available to translate texts from a variety of different media sources for your individual or company's needs. I have a first class degree in linguistics and a Master's degree in Japanese.

My academic experiences have served me well in understanding the crucial aspects of translating from Japanese to English, a task which requires in-depth understand of, not only both languages, but also both cultures, whereas my background in linguistics has trained me to pay great attention to style and formatting. At university, in both the UK and Japan, I gained experience in translating a variety of media, from short to mid-length articles to pieces of literature. I am able to translate from different registers of Japanese for example, casual and academic into the appropriate degree of formality in English.
