Scelo Mdladla

Scelo Mdladla is a Johannesburg based multi disciplinary artist. His artistic journey began in high school when he was recognized by Sunday Times and commissioned to create a cartoon strip for the newspapers childrens section. Scelos passion for creativity led him to pursue an Animation Diploma from City Varsity School of Media and Creative Arts. As a freelancer, he has provided illustration and storyboard services to prestigious film and publishing houses, including Star Films, Velocity Films, and Sesani Studios.
His work has been recognized with a Gold Award from Promax Africa, a ceremony celebrating short form video creators in the marketing and broadcast industry. As a subversive artist who defies genre, Jozi creates transgressive and versatile work. He curates a space called Phinda Mzala Music, which provides a platform for musicians, writers, and performers. His interest in the sonic has also influenced his visual work, and he has participated in numerous group exhibitions
