Samantha Ruiz

Samantha Ruiz is a 22 year old aspiring author, working towards a bachelor’s degree in generalized writing and a minor in creative writing. She hopes to one day be a Novelist full time. Samantha has an excerpt of her Work In Progress “Ephemeral Hearts” published in Purdue University Northwest PNW’s literary magazine The Furnace. She continues to work on this story since its conception in the summer of 2023, this has brought out perseverance, and collaborative skills, and has grown her knowledge of the intricacies of writing for a fictional world.

Working with PNW’s Writing Center has aided in the development of her empathic traits which were first developed through literature as a child. Having Cerebral Palsy and consistently being asked about it forced her to develop research skills that carry her through life today and help others as well as herself.

Being an English major enables her to be more media literate, which not many younger people have developed yet.
