In traveling to different continents and different countries I noticed that urban design significantly speaks to people’s lives and culture. It amazes me how impactful urban design can be to human health, wellbeing, and behavior. My passion for urban design and social architecture grew as I understood its direct link to the quality of people’s lives.
Upon entering Effat University for my bachelor’s degree, I decided to study architecture. I learned various skills in different subjects, but urban design stood apart. In learning urban design standards, I began to understand how shaping the physical environment of a city contributes to health and well being. I attended the U.S Green Building Council sustainable conference in Chicago in 2019 and participated in workshops like Climate Adaptive Design, Designing for Future Climate from Theory to Application, How Should We Leverage LEED to Optimize Climate Benefits, and Mission Zero: Scientists NZE Retrofit Fights Climate Change.
