Jan Verburg

When born, people were dancing to the soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever, however, Jan got his groove on completely the other way. As child he was fascinated by fairy tales and stories from centuries documented in old, hard leather covered books. As a teenager and young adult, although Jan, as others of his age, led a life of carefreeness, playing video games, skateboarding until the sun went down; he spent most of his time reading the tales of Marvel, Tolkien, Kafka, Ionesco, Tolstoy and so on. These readings formed his imagination and his art as a 3D artist, a director and a painter. Stories can be told in different ways, throughout the years, his urge to express emotion on film or on canvas, marked by fashion, pop culture and our western way of living : the good, the bad & the ugly; became more and more present. His constant challenge is graphically depict his ideas, dreams and understanding of today's world by using different medium, trying to put forward the essence of his art ::
