Brandon Kigen

Hi, Im Brandon — a full stack software engineer based in Nairobi, Kenya, with a backend first approach and a track record of shipping production grade code.
I work primarily with TypeScript and Python, building backend services and APIs using Node.js/NestJS, Django, and FastAPI, paired with PostgreSQL and Redis for data and caching. On the frontend I use React. Im comfortable handling the full stack — but where I add the most value is in backend architecture, API design, authentication systems, and database structure.
What Ive built includes a secure JWT + MFA + SSO authentication microservice, full stack calculation engines, RESTful social backends, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. I currently work in a professional engineering apprenticeship building backend services for live products using Agile/Scrum, code reviews, and production standards.
I hold a Kubernetes & Cloud Native Associate KCNA certification and have working knowledge of Docker and cloud infrastructure.
