Web Scraping and Data Operations Specialist

Overview

IntVentures is a fast growing startup headquartered in Canada. We help strategic buyers in the M&A space source acquisition opportunities. We’re looking for a part-time talented web scrapping and data operations specialist that can help us scrape and clean company data from multiple websites for research purposes. We’re looking for someone to work with us in the long-term, as we frequently need to scrape new websites.

• 5-15 hours a week. The hours might go up quickly depending on how much responsibilities you can take on.
• Able to respond to messages within 24 business hours (not including weekends) as you’ll need to collaborate closely with our research team
• Can work with short deadlines (1 business day turnaround or less)
• Since our research team is based in the Philippines, ideally you can work in the philippines timezone or have 1- 2 hours of overlap with the Philippines timezone per day

You’ll be working with web scraping tools such as Hexomatic () and build scraping recipes that can be reused. You’ll also be using regex formula and lookup functions in excel to extract and clean data.

You will be working closely with the research lead who’ll provide the task details and confirm that the task is complete.

Skills Needed

• Proficient in CSS/HTML, experienced in extracting web element using XPath or CSS Selector
• Good logical thinking when building scraping recipes that involves multiple level of pages
• Proficient in using Regex formula to extract data
• Proficient in using lookup and other data process and manipulating functions in Excel to map and clean data
• If you are proficient in coding scripts to process large amounts of text (using any coding language), that would be a plus. Please do mention it in your application if you have this skill.
• Collaborative, communicative, result-driven and can be reliable and accountable for deadlines.

Short-listed candidates will be given a test to assess the necessary skills mentioned above. If the collaboration goes well, there will be an opportunity for full-time employment that come with additional benefits.
