Because of the complex
sampling design of NHANES, the estimates will be weighted using CDC
recommendations to adjust for over-sampling of selected population subgroups,
survey nonresponse, and poststratification. Statistical analyses will be
performed using the statistical packages SAS for Windows. Descriptive
statistics will be used to compare the distribution of age, gender and the Race
of the participants and will be assessed for potential confounding variables.
Data will be stratified by Age,
Race and Sex to evaluate the potential contribution of ageing and sex
difference on these analyses. Weighted logistic regression analysis will be
done to estimate the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) and 95% confidence interval (CI)
for the association between exposure and outcome after adjusting for confounders
in the entire sample.
