WONDERLIC TEST
The Test was known as Wonderlic Personnel Test ( WPT )earlier and in 2007 was renamed as Cognitive Ability Test ( CAT )and is a popular and effective Group Intelligence Test to assess the learning and problem solving attitude of prospective employees for various range of occupations. The test helps to find the right candidate who can perform efficiently making calculated decisions under pressure.

	For over 80 years the Wonderlic test has proven to be scientific tool which helps in assessing a job applicants aptitude and skill level, helping companies in choosing the right candidate and retaining them and also helping employee satisfaction improvements. The Test is available in various languages and is used for evaluation in colleges, for jobs, and formation of team for sports or for any other task. Basically the Test involves answering 50 multiple choice questions in 12 minutes as part of assessment.

	Developed in the year 1936 by Eldon F Wonderlic who was himself a graduate student then at Northwestern University. He used to create the test paper and distribute from his house itself in the beginning. It was developed to assess general cognitive ability in the areas of Math, Vocabulary, and reasoning. According to Wonderic less than 5 percent of an average group can complete the test in allotted 12 minutes time.
The contents of CAT is in line with Industrial and Organizational Psychology . Its Important to note that APA American Psychological Association supports use of Wonderlic CAT for personnel issues in many sectors.

Designed to screen candidates in shortest time is similar to a quick IQ test and is broadly divided into four sections SKILLS / BEHAVIORAL / COGNITIVE ABILITY / PERSONALITY . During initial days US Army and NFL also used the Wonderlic Test although it was originally designed for employee selection, and followed by US Navy and Some of the Sports coaches also used it for performance evaluation of players. In 2017 the test was revised with question more appropriate for the future developments.

Although there is no definite way to prepare for CAT by studying, the practice tests may help one to some extent. The final result depends on the number of correct answers from 50 questions in the allotted 12 minutes. A score of 10 indicates that a person is literate, and 20 points is an indication of average intelligence. Its basically a Mental ability test of response under stress at the as quickly as possible by individuals. Scores between 14 to 32 is generally considered for various occupations.

The continuous updating of test is done by regularly evaluating the test questions. Wonderic offers 30 different forms of test as of now. Cognitive, Skill, Personality and Behavioral are the sections into which the tests are divided. 

Effectiveness or how long same set of questions is effective for testing can be found out by carrying out the test on a set of people with a reasonable interval, and if the results are largely same with time and level of education and other factors affecting the people the test is then effective.

A recent psychological report says that Wonderlic test is very good at testing the intellectual functioning of humans who think rationally but not so accurate with people not thinking rationally or out of the box thinkers.

These days many companies of repute are utilizing the Wonderic Test to assess the qualities they are looking for in their employees, the score will allow them to select the people depending upon their high scoring or specific score which will decide their role.
Wonderlic is the first to introduce the work place assessment test in the form of CAT and still leading the industry in efficiently predicting measurement of cognitive ability.
