&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Self-concept is the perception that
a person has on himself, what's defines him as a person and what makes him
unique, his expectations and goals. The reflective appraisal is a highly dynamic process
in which the person is defined and recognized by his way of thinking, acting
and desire in social contexts and in the natural environment in which he evolves.
Social comparison is a cognitive process applied to one or many information
concerning one or more persons in relation to himself, and that brings him to
appreciate the similarities and / or the differences between himself and the
other. Social comparison, therefore, is the process by which the individual
evaluates his views and skills with reference to others. More precisely in
situations where the individual is not sure of the rightness of his opinions or
the quality of his abilities, he draws a comparison to get an estimate but also
the possibility to adjust the standards ambient. The social comparison process
is triggered by a state of uncertainty and is designed to restore confidence
and thus lead to a state of balance. Personal construction is the concept that
an individual can improve his self-concept learning from his surroundings, interpretations,
observations, and experiences. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The first positive event that comes
to mind about a great teacher I had when I was ten years old. This Teacher was
really open in his way of teaching, and also he passed on his love of nature to
me. Since then I was really attracted by the nature surrounding me. As far as I
remember I could hang out in our garden for a whole afternoon alone, catching
bees, butterflies, and eating fruits from the fruit trees in the garden. Since
then I believed that I have developed a good understanding of the nature that
surrounded me. I still love spending time in my garden, my mother told me all
the time that I have a "green hand". Then it was obvious that the scientific
path was made for me, which certainly made me choose today the medical studies
path that I undertake. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The second positive event that happened to me was when I
reach this special prestigious scientific high school. It impacted my family
and me in a good way. I was proud and my family too. I became so grateful of
my life because I was dedicated to a great future. The third most positive
event that happened to me, was winning the first place in the UN simulation we
had in that high school, it made me so much proud of my self because my team
and I had beaten the economics team. It was unexpected, because we had no
knowledge at that time about political sciences, and we didn't expect to win
when we applied to this challenge. I made my school proud and made me realize
that the impossible is not impossible when you believe in yourself. Study hard,
believe and the world is yours. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;The first most negative
event in my life was when I crushed my father's car, while he was in Rome,
Italia with my mother for a vacation. I remember it was stupid, I didn't have my
driver licence and I was really close to killing people. My father wasn't upset
about the car, he was first worried about my health, then sad because he lost
confidence in me. I remember after that event he was cold with me for two good
weeks and he didn't trust me anymore for anything. The only good thing is that
I learned how to be patient with him and I also learn how to regain trust in
someone else. The second negative event in my life was when I was spearfishing
alone, that day I almost died. I remember my father forbidding me this sport,
but as stubborn as I am that didn't stop me. He told me don't play with nature, nature is stronger than you. My mother gave me advice about how to
practice this sport, the first rule did not go alone. All this came to me
while I was deep into the sea, my hand blocked into a hole. I had to cut my wetsuit;
it took me too much time I was already at my apnea limit. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I was exhausted and I
had to swim to the surface to breathe. At that moment my life was really in
danger for the first time. I reach the surface, swam to the rocks, I couldn't
say anything but fortunately, some fishermen noticed something wrong about me so
they helped me out of the water, and I passed out. I woke up in the ambulance
on the road to the hospital, something was wrong indeed, I woke up not because
of the noise around me, I did wake up because of the pain in my hand. I did
cut my hand with my knife. I did cut a small artery and three tendons. After
this event, I realized how much life was precious, and that overall we have to
follow parent's advice because somehow there is always a good part of truth in
what they say. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Being patient, having a charismatic personality
and I consider myself being able to organize anything, these are the three
greatest strengths I have. The problem with me is that I have sometimes too
much confidence and I want to have the last word in every kind of situation,
even though I'm possibly wrong sometimes. I apply these strengths daily, but
sometimes I feel like these are more weaknesses than strengths in particular
situations.
