<div><b>Islam and Democracy</b></div><div>These days Islam and democracy is a political ideology that seeks to apply some Islamic principles to a policy of public within the democratic framework. In a contemporary world, a relationship between Islam and Democracy in the world are a bit complex. Although the Muslim world or community is not ideologically monolithic, these days it is covered with a layer of democratic or political ideology. It also presents a wide spectrum of perspectives of those who deny the connection between Islam and democracy to those ones who said that Islam must require a democratic system whereas, a number of countries who has Muslim majority believe that Islam is in support of democracy even after knowing that political system is not totally defined as Islamic. The theory of Islamic democracy basically relies on various principles and these principles Islam and Democracy are:</div><div> Tawheed (Sovereignty or Oneness of God) - In Islam, God is everything, only he is the source of all the powers, and knows what is right or wrong for us. In this way, sovereignty works as a source of power.</div><div> Shura (Consultation) in Legislation- To make a government-run successfully or to make some legislation and decisions, then Shura is the process that works here which means “to take some decision through consultation”. As there is no place for despotism in Islam, shura works as an important role in the Islamic political system.</div><div> Vicegerency or Khilafah of mankind- We know that people on earth are the representative of God and God is sovereign. People should work as God commands him to do but people have a choice to obey his commands or not because of the freedom of choice and every man will be tested on the day of Judgment whereas, a Khilafah means that the human will carry the willpower of God on this earth as a vicegerent and the representative of this willpower is expected to behave as a trust.</div><div> Independence of Judiciary- In Islam or in an Islamic democratic political system, the Judiciary of a system is independent of the Executive. The Minister or any head of the state has a power to call the court if they think that it is necessary and government or ruler or any head of the state has no right to interfere in the system of justice and they also treated just like other citizens without any partiality or difference.</div><div> Equality- In Islam or in Islamic political system, ensures the equality for all the citizen before the law and people cannot judge on the basis of language, color, sex, descent or place. There is no discrimination in the Islamic system.</div><div> Government’s Accountability- In Islamic political system, a ruler is elected by the people and the government under him is first responsible to the god and then to the people of the country. Ruler in Islam is always a servant of the people of Islam and people of the Islamic state has the right to ask any question related to any matter or issue to the ruler or the government of the country.</div><div>At the end of the context, it is totally clear the Islam does not inherently incompatible with democracy and the political system of Islam or Political Islam is not an agenda for terrorism or holy war, it is sometimes a program for religious democracy.</div>
