Sometimes in 2006-07, abruptly my cozy sleep disturbed by a sudden feeling of discomfort made me awake and a feel of quiver almost choked me at the moment.I saw an apparition of my deceased father bending towards me and whispering something.I had lost my father in 1995 when I was merely a school going boy who had not realised the sudden gulf in his adolescent life at the beginning.He died in an accident.I never gave enough heed to those who seldom told me to head to Gaya and consummate 'pind-daan' meant for his departed soul,being absolutely indifferent and possessing a maverick type of an attitude.That was a different day and though sometimes I had imagined what if I would meet his soul,how he would look and stare at me.The day I really saw him was scaring.He sported professional look with french-cut beard though he had never sported a beard apart from a bushy moustache in his life time.I felt shocked and before I jumped into a conclusion I had to prove it correct and I pinched my hand with full potentials.I realised I was awake.I slinked at his slightly trembling apparition and noticed the movements of his lips clearly visible through his military-moustache and thick well trimmed beard.There was no sound.I heard nothing only saw his lips and eyes filled with tears.I was supposed to say something but felt as if something was forcefully crammed into my mouth to gag me.I along a mighty jerk of my body took an effort to shriek and shrill but even no groan came out my dry mouth.I curved and hid my face under the pillow I had caught hold of and kept my eyes closed unusually tightly.I clearly could hear the thump of my heart beat.I didn't know how long I remained like that but long after I took courage to gaze at the open window in the direction in which I had seen my father's dismal apparition but this time I saw nothing.Only the shadowy leafy trees and intruding moon-light through the partially open window.I felt a trickling pain at the left of my chest and wished had I met him again and for longer.
