I’m a curious, bored, 38-year old ex-teacher as of now with three amazing kids, and a wife who would much prefer me a little less bored and curious. All I’ve known this past decade-plus is teaching writing. Teaching journalism. Creative Writing. Academic Writing. A couple months ago I walked away from something most would consider a very nice career. I left a tenured, well-paid, summers-off, profession with relatively sweet benefits and simply resigned to write full-time. Which leads me here: I’ve come to a point where I feel it’s time for me to actually utilize my skills, and not teach others how to utilize theirs. Selfish, I know. If that means putting my particular skill set to, say, writing full-time as opposed to teaching/mentoring/coaching/fathering the hundreds of students who pass through my classroom, then so be it. In short, I am having a mid-life awakening which can very much benefit you....
